Hear last night’s live show
JC & CVK
Thanks to everyone who tuned in to listen to our live show of Addicted to Race last night! Jen and I had a great time, and we’re so happy that we had so many listeners calling in. Not bad for a first stab at this new format!
We’ll be releasing the show as a podcast, with a bit of preamble and some listener voicemails next week, but if you’d like to listen to it right away, visit this page where you can download the file either as an mp3 or an wma by right-clicking the icons as described below.
Right-click this to download mp3

Now I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet because the file was made available overnight, so I can’t vouch for the sound quality. But if there are any problems please let us know. Thanks!

I want to thank you for the excellent show featuring Jae Ran and Ji-in on transracial adoption. I have read and admired their blogs for a little while now, and I came away from the show knowing more, thinking more, and feeling like there is more work to do on this front. Thank you to the hosts and especially to Ji-in and Jae Ran for such an inspiring and informative talk.
Bravo.

Hello,
I was not able to listen to the talk show live because of work but, I just listened to it a little while ago and I think it worked out great and I look forward to many more. As for the topic covered I agree that people need to slow down and get more personal and talk to other people and give people a chance on an individual basis as opposed to grouping a bunch of people together and treating them all the same on based on negative past experiences.
Take care.

cool show.
I kind of disagree with your criticism of the “negative feedback” of the movie Red Doors. I think your reaction to their criticism was a little glib. I don’t think Asian American men want to necessarily see themselves as “hot cool heart throbs” in every movie. But they do have a legitimate gripe about how they are represented in the media. Until Asian men are represented honestly in pop culture a film maker who continues those stereotypes or makes a film where 3 Asian female characters have no Asian boyfriends should expect some kind of backlash. Not to so say that same race relationships are better than mixed relationships or that a director should sacrifice her vision to appease a certain group of people. But I think it’s unrealistic not expect a negative response. However, I do respect your advice to go see the movie despite the criticism and it would be a shame if the negative feedback hurt the sales of a good movie that everyone should see.
