MIXED MEDIA WATCH NEWS UPDATE
Carmen discusses several recent news items. First, Halle Berry admits that for much of her childhood, she felt ugly and wished she were white. Haven’t we all had those thoughts? Second, two white teenage boys in Texas are accused of a vicious attack on a young Latino boy. The motivation? They thought he was trying to kiss a white girl. Third, a new study from the University of Washington claims that “multiracial adolescents in middle school are significantly more likely to engage in such problem behaviors as violence and substance use than single-race young people.”

Jen shares a story about the discrimination she faced as an NYC public school teacher, and one of our listeners shares a story about a coworker who just couldn’t keep his racism under control.
